b.circular: a simple, scalable tool to support sustainable and circular procurement, tailored to your needs
This tool is designed to support users in sustainable and circular procurement by enabling to filter and compare options across different product categories and criteria. It currently promotes recognised environmental labels and will gradually incorporate additional solutions relevant to the Luxembourg context.
By considering several dimensions as well as predefined and evolving criteria specific to each product category, you can identify the most relevant options to meet your needs. Please refer to the disclaimer below for details on the methodology and intended use.
Methodology
The b.circular platform uses a global framework of sustainability and circularity criteria, structured around major thematic dimensions, to guide its users.
This framework was developed through a detailed analysis of requirements from recognised environmental labels and standards. While the framework ensures overall consistency, criteria for each product category are carefully selected and evaluated individually, based on their relevance, materiality, and practical applicability.
Within the framework of b.circular, the selection of eco-labels was carried out with particular consideration of the Luxembourg context. The analysis focused primarily on labels available on the local market to ensure their accessibility for users. Furthermore, the eco-labels were required to be based on a clearly defined, publicly accessible set of criteria and to be regularly verified by an external, independent body to ensure objectivity and credibility.
For the “Food” category, only labels with a clear and verified reference system were selected. Small labels or local brands lacking sufficient transparency or independent certification were excluded to ensure a high level of reliability, consistency, and comparability.
After selection, the eco-labels were analysed according to the predefined dimensions and criteria of b.circular, assessing their compliance with standards and relative to each other, while taking into account the scope and rigor of requirements as well as the distinction between mandatory and optional criteria.
