b.circular expands its support to three new product categories

b.circular expands its support to three new product categories

The b.circular platform continues to evolve to support public and private actors in responsible procurement practices. Since its official launch on the 6th of June 2025, during the Climate Pact Day, b.circular has already been helped users integrate environmental, social, and circularity criteria for categories such as office furniture, office supplies, and IT equipment.
To meet the growing demand from municipalities, businesses, and organisations seeking more sustainable procurement, the platform now introduces three new product categories. This expansion broadens the scope of b.circular and provides users with additional tools for responsible procurement decisions.

The newly integrated categories are:

Textiles: Including clothing, upholstery fabrics, and reusable cleaning materials. Key sustainability criteria cover the choice of sustainable materials (organic or recycled fibers), reduction of water and harmful chemical use, social responsibility throughout the value chain, and product durability. For leather products, animal welfare is also an important consideration.

Washing and cleaning: Covering detergents for various hard surfaces, dishwashing detergents, and laundry products. Key sustainability criteria include strict limits on the use of hazardous substances, rigorous toxicity thresholds for aquatic organisms, and sourcing of raw materials from sustainable sources. Packaging should also be refillable, reusable, and ideally integrated into a take-back system.

Food: Including food and beverages. Selected criteria focus on organic or sustainable production, fair trade, and the use of local and regional value chains.

By integrating these new categories, b.circular reinforces its mission: making sustainable and circular procurement accessible, practical, and adaptable to diverse needs, while supporting local actors in their transition toward more responsible purchasing practices.
